Growing in Christ: My Journey of G.R.O.W.T.H.

As I’ve walked with the Lord over the years, I’ve learned something important: the refining process and spiritual growth aren’t just about collecting knowledge — it’s about a transformed heart and life. My journey can be summed up in the acronym G.R.O.W.T.H. — six pillars that have refined my walk with Christ and continue to draw me deeper into His presence.

G — Gracefully Approach God with Humility

“Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” — James 4:10

When I first began my walk with Christ, I thought I had to “clean myself up” before coming to Him. I believed He wanted perfection, not my brokenness. But I learned that God doesn’t call the perfect — He calls the surrendered.

Humility is not weakness; it’s courage. It’s the choice to kneel before God with open hands and say, “I need You more than I need my pride.” It’s in that low place where His grace floods in and lifts me higher than I could ever go on my own.

This isn’t a one-time act. Approaching God with humility is a daily choice, and it’s the first step to true growth, because when we come low, He promises to lift us up.

R — Read, Study, and Meditate on the Word of God

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” — Psalm 119:105

Humility opened the door to God’s presence, but His Word taught me how to walk in it. Reading the Bible isn’t just a religious duty; it’s a personal conversation with the One who knows me best.

Some days, Scripture comforts me like a warm blanket. Other days, it challenges me like a mirror, showing me where change is needed. The more I study and meditate on it, the more it takes root in my heart — shaping my thoughts, guiding my steps, and helping me see life through God’s eyes.

When I drift away from His Word, I feel the difference. Fear grows louder, direction feels uncertain, and my heart starts to wander. But when I stay anchored in Scripture, I find clarity, peace, and strength for the journey.

O — Obey and Live the Word of God

“Do not merely listen to the word and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” — James 1:22

It’s one thing to read the Word — it’s another to live it. God never meant for His truth to remain on the page; it’s meant to be displayed in how I love, forgive, and respond to life’s challenges.

Obedience isn’t always easy. Sometimes, it means stepping into something scary or letting go of something I’ve held tightly. But I’ve learned that every act of obedience is an invitation to see God’s faithfulness in a new way.

Obedience turns belief into action — and that’s when faith becomes real.

W — Witness and Give Personal Testimony

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses…” — Acts 1:8

When God changes your life, it’s impossible to keep it a secret. My story isn’t just about when I first met Jesus — it’s about the countless ways He’s shown up since then.

Witnessing isn’t about having all the answers; it’s about pointing to the Answer. Sometimes it’s bold words, other times it’s simply living in such a way that people see something different and want to know why. My life is a living letter, and I pray every page points back to Him.

T — Trust and Thank God for Everything

“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” — 1 Thessalonians 5:18

Trust is easy when the path is clear, but it becomes a choice when the road ahead is dark. I’ve faced seasons when I didn’t understand God’s timing or His plan — yet He whispered, “Trust Me here.”

I’ve learned that gratitude is the heartbeat of trust. When I thank God — not only for the blessings I can see, but for the unseen work He’s doing — my perspective changes. The storm may not stop right away, but my heart becomes steady, anchored in His goodness.

H — Honor and Glorify God in All Things

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” — 1 Corinthians 10:31

At the end of the day, my growth isn’t about building my name — it’s about making His name known. Every blessing I have is a gift, and every ability I’ve been given is a chance to reflect His goodness.

Whether I’m speaking from a stage or folding laundry at home, my goal is the same: to honor God. And when I fall short, my repentance becomes yet another way to glorify Him, showing that His mercy is greater than my mistakes.

It’s from this place of humility and gratitude that I lift my heart to God in prayer.

Closing Prayer

Father, I thank You for the beautiful, sometimes challenging, always transforming journey of growing in Christ. You have taken my brokenness and used it to display Your grace. You have taught me to humble myself before You, to love Your Word, to live it out, to share my story, to trust You in every season, and to honor You in all I do.

Lord, I know that this journey isn’t just for me — it’s for every heart that longs to know You more. You are no respecter of persons, and the same grace, guidance, and transformation You’ve poured into my life, You desire to give to all who seek You.

So today, I pray for the one reading these words. Draw them closer to You. Open their eyes to see that growth in Christ is not only possible, but it’s a gift You freely offer. Give them courage to take the first step, faith to keep going, and joy in knowing that You will finish the work You’ve started in them.

May our lives be living testimonies that point others to You, until the day we see You face to face. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
