Day 1: Discover the Power of the 15-Minute Pause
The Urgency Trap
Have you ever felt so busy waiting that you’ve become perpetually exhausted? We often mistake frenetic activity—constant worry, endless planning, and spiritual striving—for productive waiting. We fear that if we stand still, God will forget us, or the world will pass us by. This mindset turns our season of waiting into a dry Wilderness, where our human strength runs out.
But God offers an alternative:
“The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.” (Isaiah 40:28-29)
Stillness is Surrender
God’s strength is not dependent on our action; it is accessed through our surrender. The promise of Isaiah 40:31—that those who wait will renew their strength—is a call to active expectation, not anxious striving.
Our Workshop begins with the most radical act of faith: The 15-Minute Pause.
This pause is more than just stopping; it is intentionally moving away from your own limited strength and stepping directly into the flow of God’s infinite, never-ending power. It’s a moment where you tell your anxieties, “I stop trying to fix this myself, because I trust that God’s power has no limits, and He is working even when I am still.”
In the 15-Minute Pause, the Spirit of God begins to replace your exhaustion with the patience of Christ. He reveals that the Creator who never faints is ready to exchange your frailty for His fire. You are not forgetting your struggle; you are simply anchoring it in a power greater than your own.
The Challenge: Making the Exchange
Today, find 15 minutes of quiet stillness. If you struggle with what to do, try these steps:
- Stop: Physically stop what you are doing. Silence your devices.
- Surrender: In your mind, visualize three things you are currently trying to rush or fix yourself. Speak them to God and consciously release your control over them.
- Receive: Close with the words of Isaiah 40:31 as a prayer: “Lord, I wait for You. Renew my strength. Teach me to pause and receive Your power.”
Let this pause be the foundation for the transformation ahead. Let it be the moment you exchange the anxiety of the wilderness for the quiet strength of the workshop.
